The eatery opened in the fall of 2013 to great reviews, having replacing Derossi's previous venture, The Bourgeois Pig, at this location.
Bergen Hill's web site mentions that the restaurant will re-open at another location by mid-May, but there is no indication of it will stay in Carroll Gardens or in Brooklyn.
This, together with recent closings of eateries on Smith Street, further limits dining options in Carroll Gardens. What are your thoughts?

This was a great restaurant run by incredibly friendly and caring people. I went there quite a bit for a drink and a snack. I will miss them and I really do hope they reopen somewhere to success. The people who worked there every night deserve it.
As someone who lives very close by, I'm terrified to think what might replace it.

Totally fine with it. Went there once and was not impressed. Also to add Ravi was not a very nice neighbor too, when he lived on 2nd place.
Bergen Hill was too expensive! Also once block up on Carroll, Prema Yoga closed and relocated to Court & Luquer
Never went. I liked the video store that was there better. Well, I'd be terrified too if I lived near this corner. Terrified to think what nightmare id have to walk by every day; a loud bar? A plastic looking bank with a glowing sign? This area is losing its charm with the passing of every small business replaced with pennant banners and grand opening signs. Poorly spelled light box signs and peel and stick letters. So, be afraid. Be very afraid.
Chai Healing Arts (401 Court St) looks to be closed too. cleaning it out yesterday.
Damn. All these closings at the same time. Too weird.
Katia-- I was just informed that Teaffee is also suddenly out of business. It was always crowded and seemed to be the only prosperous store on the corner of the Smith/9th area. The owners are so nice and friendly, so it's a big loss to our neighborhood. It also looks like they went out with a bang, as the inside is littered with empty bottles of booze and scattered cups. Did you hear anything about this?
Yes, another reader just informed me about it over the week-end. I'll try to take a walk over there later today.

Gosh how I loved Carroll Gardens. Lived there for 25 years, an incredible, warm fun neighborhood. Sold last year to the highest bidder and relocated elsewhere in Brooklyn where is feels like CG 20 years ago. There are very few real neighborhoods left in NYC. As a survivor of rapid gentrification, I am in no rush to experience this again. Sadly, Carroll Gardens has become a victim of is own success. So glad I knew it "when."
Out of curiosity, where did you relocate? We also relocated to a nice, quaint community with a ton of individuality - great food and bar scene too - Ditmas Park. My husband said it feels like Carroll Gardens before it took off...
Hahahah. Ditmas Park is not Carroll Gardens. Hahahahah. There ain't no brownstones there! But that Kingsland Plaza or whatever it's called does have a hipster coffe place and mom and pop hardware. And beautiful wood frame HOUSES. And lawns. Hardly CG.
Yet another closing: Dosa Royale on Court St., next to Scottos Wine is closing. Relocating, I believe to Ft.Greene....

I (Anonymous 6:43) did not write the comment about Ditmas Park. Ditmas Park is lovely, yes with that old Brooklyn feeling. I'd rather not say where we relocated. It is Brooklyn, we are very happy. My magical thinking is if I do not divulge where our new neighborhood is, it may be able to stay quaint & real for a little bit longer. :-)
WP Store is closing on Smith and What was Epaulet is slated for another nail salon. Can someone spell money laundering.... Seems we need a website dedicated just to the graveyard that was our beloved bococa :-(
Just heard. So sad, La Casita, the Smith Street knitting place, is also closing.
