However, most are responsible and clear the snow in front of their property.
But then, there is this: yesterday, a reader took the photos above in front of a residence at the corner of Second Street and Bond Street in Gowanus and writes:
"Some shovel their walk. Some spread salt. 124 Second Street has glass shards for those unlucky enough to trip and fall."
The reader told PMFA that 911 was called to report this rather dangerous and disturbing occurrence.
Hopefully, the sharp glass pieces have been removed by now, but just in case, be very, very careful walking past this spot.
They have "Greedy Bitch" painted on the window. I'm wondering if it was someone else that put the broken glass there?
ReplyDeleteThat could be, of course. As I mentioned, 911 was called. I hope that if someone else is responsible, the owner also called the police.
ReplyDeleteNot sure if the homeowner put the glass there and/or painted that on the window however, this house has an interesting array of what could be called controversial artwork in front of their house--an upside down virgin Mary, for one.
ReplyDeleteThat house always has some bizarre arrangement of "art" and cat food out front. There was a toilet seat with glittery stuff hanging from the tree for a while.
ReplyDeleteTY Katia for calling 911. Very bizarre & dangerous.
ReplyDeleteTo be clear, as I mentioned in the post, concerned residents who live near this address called 911. I just posted the photos that were sent to me.
ReplyDeleteI was walking my dog a couple of weeks ago in front of this same house and someone had dumped white paint all over the sidewalk and street - it was also dripping down the front door. When I commented to a worker from a business closer to the canal that it was a terrible act of vandalism not to mention dangerous, he said that the owner is crazy and that he did it himself in the name of 'art'. I am glad they called 911, this man has crossed the line.
ReplyDeleteThe man who rents (not the owner) the ground floor apartment in that building has been making these art installations outside for years now. Unfortunately, he often decides to break glass or stoneware all over the sidewalk and the street. He likes to dump big piles of used cat litter on the sidewalk also. The police have been called dozens of times over the years, I see them talking to this man on a regular basis, but nothing changes. I don't mind the wild art, it makes our block more interesting, I just wish he'd stop with broken glass and the foul garbage.
