Each year on May 12th, XL Catlin, an insurance and reinsurance company with forty offices around the world, participates in a "Global Day of Giving" by taking on volunteer projects for the day.
This past Friday, about twenty of XL Catlin's New York City employees came to Carroll Park in Carroll Gardens to scrape and paint a section of the park's iron fence along Smith Street.

The project was organized by Jill Bell, who works for the company and used to live in the neighborhood. She had reached out to Friends of Carroll Park a few months ago to plan the volunteer effort.

Next time you walk past Carroll Park on Smith Street, make sure to notice the newly painted section of fence and please thank Jill and the XL Catlin volunteers by leaving a comment.
