Though several new bars and restaurants will soon open up on Smith Street, there are still too many empty storefronts dotting this once vibrant commercial street. And soon, there will be one more.
The Brooklyn Flight 001 outpost at 132 Smith Street will soon close its doors for good. The store, which opened in 2006, sold luggage and fun travel accessories for frequent international travelers.
A sign in the window and on the company's Facebook page reads:
"To our Brooklyn passengers,
We’re sad to go, but this is not goodbye; it’s more of a “see you later!” Thank you to all of our wonderful passengers for visiting us over the years. It has been a great pleasure sharing our love of travel with you."
Currently, the store is holding a final 40% sale of all merchandise at this location.
Flight 001 will continue to operate its other retail location at 96 Greenwich Avenue in Manhattan and of course, customers can purchase online at Flight001.com.

Good one.
This business has been wonderful. They stayed afloat after 9/11 and sell intelligent travel related things. I've spent time and money here. In both NY locations. They have stores worldwide. The commenter above obviously doesn't go anywhere except to Trader Joe's.
If you travel frequently, it was a great shop. I will be sad to see it go.
Good one indeed Anonymous 11:14. Could never wrap my head around that place - then again, I still pine for Johnny's Bootery.
take solace in that a "brow bar" is opening on Smith st (near Pacific). You now can stay in neighborhood and have your eyebrows done.
