If being green and less wasteful is on your list of resolutions for 2018, I have good news.
The talented folks of Fix-Up (formerly Pop-Up repair) will be collecting household items to be repaired starting January 21st at the Carroll Gardens Greenmarket. As a matter of fact, they will be there every 3rd Sunday of the month, from January all the way to June of this year. So no excuses. Instead of throwing your broken item out, drop it off when you do your market shopping and pick it up the following month.

From the Greenmarket:
Fix-Up at the Carroll Gardens Greenmarket: Every 3rd Sunday, 8am-2pm (next appearance will be Jan 21st)
Bring your broken household items for the fixing--Pop-Up Repair will be at market the third Sunday of every month! Drop off your broken household items at the Pop Up Repair tent and pick it up later, fixed and as good as new. Visit Pop Up Repair's website for more information on their services and a list of items you can bring.

Fix-Up Repair was founded by Sandra Goldmark and Michael Banta to "provide an alternative to the cycle of use and discard." They partner with communities, business and individuals to open short term repair shops around the country. They also host a series of free worships which include book repair and musical instrument repair tutorials.
The pop-up shops are staffed by "theatre artisans and technicians, one of the few remaining professional groups with the skills to repair a wide range of objects."
Pop-Up repair will charge a very reasonable fee for extending the life of your item.
