Here is some great news! A new bead shop has just opened in Gowanus and if you have not yet stopped by to create your very own unique piece of jewelry, you really should do so soon.
Bead on Bond at 296 Bond Street in Gowanus held its grand opening just over a month ago. The bright open studio is filled with display cases filled with beads and pendants of all colors and sizes. At the center of the space is a communal table at which customers can give free reign to their imagination.
Bead on Bond's owner, Sharon Zeisel will guide you through the entire process. She also offers jewelry making classes, repairs, as well as bachelorette and birthday parties. In the future, Sharon plans on hosting special workshops with visiting artists.
Many of you may remember Sharon as the manager of Bead Box, which was located on Smith Street until last year. After that store closed, Sharon decided to open her very own creative space right here in the community. She loves being on Bond Street and enjoys the camaraderie amongst the women-owned businesses like Fringe Salon on the same block.
"I am right where I am supposed to be," she told us on a recent visit.
Bead on Bond is open from Wednesday to Sunday, 10 am to 6 pm.
