"Painting With A Twist", a paint and sip franchise, opened its doors at 228 Smith Street between
Butler and Douglass Streets in the spring of 2015. It appears that the franchise, which provides step-by-step painting instructions from local artists, is about to call it quits, though their calendar shows events through the end of the month.
There are "For Rent Signs" from realtor Smith & Hanten hanging in the window, stating that the space is "available now'. The rent is $6,000 a month for the approximately 925 square feet.
Painting With A Twist provides step-by-step instructions from a local artist to individuals or private parties, all while enjoying drinks. The concept became very popular nation-wide a few years back.

$6,000 a month. That means a business needs to make at least $200 a day a month to just pay the rent. Realistically a business needs to make $500 a day to make a profit? This explains why there are fewer retail stores and more other businesses that can make @$50-$100+ per a customer that comes in. Very interesting!
