Reader Marlene alerted us to the presence of firetrucks on First Street and Bond Street this evening at around 7 PM. Firemen were apparently responding to an incident at 365 Bond Street. The smell of burning plastic could be detected outside of the building
Does anyone have further information?

I was returning home as the firefighters were leaving. Apparently the fire started in a planter on the roof, when some dried mulch ignited. Likely someone put a cigarette butt there, even though smoking isn’t allowed on the roof. In any case you could smell the smoke all the way down to the first floor near the affected elevator.
Thanks for letting us know. Glad it was put our quickly.
Rich people are stupid. And I find it fascinating that a plastic planter was used not a cement one that won’t blow off the roof. But then nothing surprises me when it comes to that area.
