At about 11:30pm on Friday night, a red Cadillac with Florida license plates burst into flames after several explosions could be heard. The car was parked on Carroll Street between Court and Smith Streets next to Carroll Park in Carroll Gardens.
Two firetrucks and several police cars arrived at the scene shortly after local residents called 911.
Luckily, it appears that no one was hurt.
The vehicle was still parked in the same spot on Saturday at mid-day. It attracted quite a bit of attention from passersby, who stopped to wonder what could have caused the explosion.

As we took the photos above at about 1 pm, someone remarked that three "Trump: Keep America Great" stickers affixed to the back window of the car had somehow remained intact through the explosion and the fire, though the window and the interior had been mostly destroyed.
"It just shows how hard it is to get rid of the guy", he mused.

Did you witness last night's explosion? We would love to get some details of what happened.

The musings are not funny. The only power one has is the power of the vote. Period!

Maybe the Trump stickers were affixed after the explosion?

In that neighborhood, I would not be surprised if some left winger purposely set that fire. The radical left is known for it’s intolerance to views other than their own.

Is this being investigated as an act of terror? Sure looks like a bombing to me.

@asbreezy if intolerance means standing up to bigots, then, sure, call it intolerance but it’s absurd and grossly irresponsible to suggest an act of terrorism or a bombing, let alone pin it on people who are supposedly from the left.

in truth, the the only intolerance in this neighborhood comes from the trump supporters who still live here, still angry that new people have moved in, still impotent and incapable of changing with changing times.

given cadillac’s less than stellar safety record and cost-cutting measures to please shareholders - made in america - i imagine fire investigators have started there in the search for answers.

No matter what the car exploded it was an act of terrorism but thank God no one was hurt and also a lot of children go to the park but luckily it was at night and no one was hurt so whoever did this for whatever reason I hope you get caught we're doing something so stupid everybody's focusing on the Trump stickers when they should be focusing on why this happened and how and will it happen again and if next time would everyone be so lucky for not getting hurt so please find the people who did this

of this incident, one of our city's finest papers says the following:

'FDNY officials said no arson or criminal intent is suspected, but they continue to investigate the cause.

“Flames were coming out of the middle of the car straight up like a column of fire.," said Nina Sodhi, 44, who lives on the block. "The police and firemen didn’t seem worried about the fire, so I assumed it wasn’t a bomb or anything bad. They put it out fast.”'

Anthony S sounds like he really has his finger on the pulse of "that Neighborhood", as he refers to it

some people can't help interjecting their ignorant political views on a friendly neighborhood site
