My wife and I had passed Monteleone's a few times a week after we moved to Brooklyn and would always admire the cakes in the window. Then one day we stopped in and I was hooked! Many of their cakes and pastries are works of art and absolutely delicious! I will now go out of my way to stop here, everything is fresh and inviting. A couple months ago we spent 2 weeks in Sicily and honestly the pastries there don't come up to the level of Monteleone's. I had the last tiramisu last night, delicious, will stop by today for some more treats. Don't just window shop, try their goods, you won't be disappointed in the least.

A box of hand-selected cookies, held closed by their traditional red and white string, makes for a great "shop local" gift during the holidays. (And don't forget to include some chocolate-dipped lace cookies from the other refrigerated case.)
