Newly Formed Gowanus Mutual Aid Group Steps In To Help Those In Need

oo
Dear Readers, please let me introduce you to Gowanus Mutual Aid, which is trying to make a difference in these times of uncertainty.
Prompted by the struggle that many are currently facing because of Covid-19,   a group of Gowanus neighbors has joined together to assist local residents with basic needs like financial assistance, groceries, transportation, and social support.

The Gowanus group follows the principles of mutual aid at Mutual Aid NYC, which "strives to create solidarity among community members by supporting each other’s needs."

The members of Gowanus Mutual Aid are kindly asking for donations so they can provide the necessary assistance: "In an effort to fight against systemic racism and the financial burden our community is facing as a result of this pandemic, we need to redistribute wealth to help our most affected neighbors."

If you need help, please fill out an aid request form.

Thank you in advance for your generosity.

A great group! I love what they did with the Dredgers Canoe Club for Thanksgiving - collecting food cans in a canoe!
