Carroll Park's Kids' Concert Series Closes Season With The Deedle Deedle Dees

The Deedle Deedle Dees , a Brooklyn-based educational rock band, will be performing in Carroll Park this Saturday as part of the much beloved Kids' Concert Series.   It's the last concert of the season, so make sure your kids don't miss it.

The Deedle Deedle Dees are a Brooklyn-based educational rock band which Paste magazine hailed as one of the top “Music Picks for Families” in 2011. The Deedle Deedle Dees’ latest release, Strange Dees, Indeed, was recently featured on NPR’s All Things Considered and is in heavy rotation on Sirius XM Kids Place Live and many other family radio shows across the country including Spare the Rock, Spoil the Child (Northampton, MA) and Saturday Morning Cereal Bowl (Knoxville, TN). Founded by Brooklyn-based teaching artist / songwriter Lloyd Miller in 2003, the Deedle Deedle Dees have brought their highly interactive performances to venues across the country.

Calling All Neighborhood Kids: Karen K and the Jitterbugs To Perform In Carroll Park This Saturday

The Carroll Park Kids Concert series will kick off this Saturday, June 23rd, with a performance by Karen K and the Jitterbugs.  This event will be hosted in collaboration with PS 58.
The concert starts at 4 PM but come earlier for food and fun.

The concert series consists of four concerts scheduled during the summer months and will feature some of the most beloved children's bands in Brooklyn.
As in years past, each concert will be held in collaboration with a local school or playgroup.
All concerts are shine only and will be held between 2:00 and 5:00 p.m. There will be food and activities.

A big thanks to organizer and neighborhood mom Simmi Degnemark and her tireless volunteers for their hard work and for bringing so much joy to the little ones and their families.

Another Fun-Filled Season Begins At Carroll Park

Friends of Carroll Park, a nonprofit organization dedicated to improving the park for everyone, is kicking off another season of fun with great concerts, movie screenings, a spring flea market and clean-ups.
Since 1975, this group of dedicated neighborhood volunteers has donates time and effort to make our park and neighborhood a better place.
Please join them and make a difference right here in everyone's favorite park.

The monthly meetings of Friends of Carroll Park resume this Thursday, so please feel free to join us at 7:30 on March 1 in the Robert Acito Park House to learn more about our upcoming plans and ways that you actively participate in your community this season! We'll be nominating our next slate of officers for the group, so all active members of Friends of Carroll Park should do their best to attend! 

Beyond our monthly meeting, we have a lot of great stuff lined up this year! Here's a tentative, partial list of activities we're hoping to squeeze in before the leaves fall again. We'll need volunteer assistance for all events, so we hope you'll lend a hand!

Seeking Junior Bands To 'Open' For Carroll Park Concert Series This Summer

This summer, the beloved Carroll Park Kids Concert Series will once again delight the little ones in the neighborhood with four new shows, which will directly benefit our local public schools.
And there is something new for 2012. The organizers, Simmi, Jenara, and Kim have decided to  bring in some middle school talent to kick off the concerts.
They write:
"Carroll Park Concerts is thrilled to kick off a band contest. Here's a fabulous opportunity for middle schoolers to showcase their talents and get experience performing on stage. Carroll Park Summer Concert Series is having a contest for opening bands for our series.
