From 10:00 a.m. until 4:00 p.m. Fourth Place will bustling with activity. As in the past, there will be lots of FREE refreshments, including hot dogs, pop corn, water, juice, and so much more. There will be clowns and musical entertainment. There will be FREE Face Painting by Brooklyn Workshop Gallery Artists and FREE Pony Rides by Excel Builders & Renovators.
And what’s a PumpkinFest without a pumpkin? So let’s not forget to design your own pumpkin. Paint and carving tools will be provided FREE.

And finally, Children’s Miracle Network will be raffling off some really great prizes, including a large-size Big Green Egg BBQ which was featured on the Today show earlier this year and autographed by Al Roker. Retail value: $1,500.

Mazzone's On Court Street Switching Over To Ace Hardware

Mazzone's current sign
and future sign
Here is some news about Mazzone, the family- run hardware store at 470 Court Street in Carroll Gardens. In an email Matt Mazzone writes:
After 40 years with True Value, we are in the process of switching over to ACE hardware. I've attached an image of our new sign, which should hopefully be going up in the next few weeks. Our infamous tools that are going up the side of the building will also be refurbished at the same time. Sometime in the spring, we'll be painting the building and probably doing some work on our storefront as well.
Little by little we have been letting our customers know, but I'm sure there are going to be a lot of people wondering what is going on when they see the new sign go up. So for the record - we did not change ownership, and as much as I tried, I couldn't convince any of the hardware stores in Hawaii or the Caribbean to switch places with me =).
Glad to know that you aren't going anywhere despite the rein and the snow, Matt. Couldn't imagine Mazzone Hardware anywhere else but right here in Carroll Gardens.

The location of Mazzone's new Benjamin Moore paint store

Mazzone, everyone's favorite neighborhood hardware store at470 Court Street is opening a 'Signature' Benjamin Moore store in the space formerly occupied by Starting Artists at 211 Smith Street. Matt Mazzone told me a few days ago that he hopes that the opening will coincide with the 61st Anniversary of the Court Street store. Paint will continue to be available at the flagship store as well.
According to Benjamin Moore's web site, 'Signature' stores offer a "newly upgraded and personal environment designed to support your color and paint selection."
I have no doubt that this second store will do extremely well. I joked with Matt that he needs to open a dedicated garden center next.
