Sadly, Garden Apothecary At 525 Court Street Will "Eventually" Close

Garden Apothecary has barely been open for two years at 525 Court Street, but its closing is most likely a foregone conclusion. The pharmacy portion in the back of the store has already closed and the remaining stock of homeopathic products, personal care products, and gifts is currently discounted up to 50%.
I asked the young man working the cash register if the store was closing. His answer: "Eventually." After pressing him further, he admitted that the closing would happen sooner rather than later. "Business at this end of Court Street is really slow" he said. "There really is no foot traffic and most people either order online or shop further down Court Street."
Garden Apothecary is owned by Kings Pharmacy on Hudson Street in Manhattan, which, according to its web site, is one of the "few independent pharmacies that is as big as a chain."

It would be sad to lose the store, since service was always friendly and offered a real choice for residents near that stretch of Court Street.

Garden Apothecary Invites Carroll Gardens Families To Official Grand Opening

Garden Apothecary opened its doors at 525 Court Street late last year.  On April 25th, 2015 from 11 AM to 4 PM,  the new neighborhood pharmacy would like to officially say 'hi' to the families of Carroll Gardens by hosting a celebration that includes free face painting and balloon animals as well as free confections from its neighbor, the Treats Truck Store.

Not only does the Court Street store feature a full pharmacy, it offers everything that Rite Aid on Smith Street and CVS on Court Street offer, but in a much nicer layout and with friendlier service. And they will deliver. The store is stocked with homeopathic products, personal care products, as well as gifts, cards, and snacks.

Many residents in the neighborhood were petty upset by the recent closing of Clinton Apothecary, a family-owned business that had been operating at 420 Clinton Street for the past 80 years.
Well, for all those who were saddened by the loss of yet another independently-owned pharmacy in Carroll Gardens,  there is some good news.  Just before the holidays,  Garden Apothecary opened its doors at 525 Court Street.

Not only will Garden Apothecary feature a full pharmacy, it offers everything that Rite Aid on Smith Street and CVS on Court Street offer, but in a much nicer layout and with friendlier service. It is a welcome addition to the neighborhood and especially to that end of Court Street. I am sure it wil thrive.

525 Court Street's Large Retail Space Now Available

The ground floor retail space at 525 Court Street, a new seven-story condo building between 9th Street and Garnet Street, is now for rent. The 4,487 square feet space is being marketed by CPEX for $30 a square foot per year. It is being advertised as perfect for a large medical practice, a day-care, school, gym, café, or grocery store. Don't hold your breath for a restaurant at this location, though. No on-site cooking is permitted.
