Happy, Happy Holidays, Dear Readers!

The last few days have been very busy here at my house, but after much work, the house is all decorated, the lights are twinkling outside, and the cookies have all been baked.  You see, I am getting ready to welcome my little grandson Dove for his very first Christmas, and for his first visit to Brooklyn. As you can imagine, I can hardly wait.
As I am writing this, the little munchkin has just arrived at the airport and has already met his great-grandmother from Florida, who is joining us for the festivities.
Here is the very first encounter.

I am wishing you all a wonderful Holiday with your loved ones. Thank you so much for your continued support and friendship. It means the world to me.
Meet you back here in just a few days!

Dear Readers,
This year will be a Brooklyn Christmas for me and my family as it is my turn to host my relatives for the festivities. How wonderful not to have to travel and to be able to enjoy Carroll Gardens with all its decorated houses and the many lights at night.
It has been a busy couple of days as I am getting everything ready for my company, but now the house is decorated, the cookies are baked, the meals planned and the first relatives have arrived. By tomorrow, we will all be together, including my niece's two week-old baby, the newest member of our clan.

I would like to wish all of you a peaceful and joyous Holiday season. Thank you so very much for your friendship and your encouragement throughout the year. I will see you back here in just a few days.
With much appreciation,
Katia

Our Brooklyn neighborhood is beautiful all year around, but the Holiday season sure adds a touch of magic, don't you think?  Just in the past few days,  Christmas tree vendors have taken their usual spots on Court Street and Smith Street and local stores have begun to decorate their windows.
It is difficult to not get into the spirit, even if the temperatures are still rather mild for the season.

Perhaps this year, we can all make an effort to buy and to dine locally in order to support our local, family-owned  businesses.  Without them, the neighborhood would just not be the same.
