There is no better time of year to support our local artists and designers than the Holiday season.
Brooklyn Collective at 212 Columbia Street is making it easy to choose unique, thoughtful gifts at their Holiday Gift Fair this Friday, December 1st, from 6 to 9 pm.

Brooklyn Collective also host a number of wonderful Holiday workshops as part of their Studio School  to teach you how to make your very own meaningful hand-made gifts.

South Brooklyn Children's Garden To Host Its Sixth Annual Harvest Festival This Week-End

South Brooklyn Children's Garden at 204 Columbia Street will be celebrating its sixth annual Harvest Festival on Saturday, October 14, from 10 am to 2pm. The event is free and open to the public and a wonderful opportunity to meet others in the community. So mark your calendar and Mark your calendars and plan to bring your family.

From the Garden:
The South Brooklyn Children’s Garden (the Garden), a community garden and urban farming cooperative at 204 Columbia Street in the Columbia Waterfront neighborhood of Brooklyn, announced today that it will host its annual Harvest Festival on Saturday, October 14, from 10 am to 2 pm. Now in its sixth year, the Harvest Festival, which is free and open to the public, brings together community members of all ages to celebrate the autumn harvest and the role of urban farming in sustainable agriculture.
This year’s festival will include:
-Bake sale
-Pumpkin patch and decorating
-Face painting
-Live music from The Dad Beats
-Slices from House of Pizza and Calzones

Doors open at 10am and the Dad Beats perform at 12:30. This year’s Harvest Festival is made possible with the generous support of House of Pizza and Calzones.

Summit Street Community Garden Invites To Its Annual Spring Tag And Bake Sale Fundraiser This Saturday, May 20

This Saturday, May 20 from 10 am–3 pm, take a walk down to Columbia Street and check out Summit Street Community Garden's  annual Tag and Bake Sale. All proceeds will go directly towards beautifying the garden, so it's all for a good cause.

The Summit Street Community Garden is having its annual spring tag and bake sale fundraiser. Stop by to peruse items for sale, including seasonal clothing, jewelry, music, books, children's clothing and toys, household items and accessories and more! We’ll also have a variety of baked goods and iced tea. All proceeds go toward supplies, maintenance and plants to beautify the garden. Become A Member Of The South Brooklyn Children’s Garden On Columbia Street For The 2016 Season

The South Brooklyn Children’s Garden (SBCG), a membership-based cooperative and public garden at 204 Columbia Street, is currently accepting applications for the 2016 gardening season. Join and you will receive a share of the harvest.
Throughout the year, SBCG holds a number of educational programing and members' event, as well as festivities that are open to the public.

The garden was founded as a green space for children, their families, and the greater community "to learn about their food sources and connect with nature through gardening." Through the efforts of its founders, this green oasis was recently transferred to the NYC Parks Department, which means that it will be permanently preserved as a community garden.
The annual membership fee per family is $70,  $40 per individual.

'Amazing Garden' On Columbia Street To Host 3rd Annual Competition For Best Grilled Sandwich In Brooklyn

The Amazing Garden, a green oasis that has been tended by the community since the 1990's, is hosting its Third Annual Grilled Sandwich competition on Saturday, September 7th.

Taste six grilled sandwiches from the chefs of Nightingale 9, Dassara, and Iris Café, and vote for your favorite. Drinks will be provided by Farmacy and there will be live music.

Below is more information:
How it works: three chefs compete for the title of best grilled sandwich (meat) and best grilled sandwich (vegetarian).
This year's competitors: Lauren Rauh (Iris Cafe), Josh Kaplan (Dassara), and Morgan Jarrett (Nightingale 9).
As sandwiches come off the grill, ticketholders get to sample them and vote on which was tastiest.

Entry: $15. It's a fundraiser, and all revenues will be used for maintenance and repairs of one of the most popular community gardens in our part of Brooklyn.
Benefits: continuous delicious food, live music, and beverages courtesy of Brooklyn Farmacy.
Time: 3 pm, Saturday September 7th

Location: The Amazing Garden, at the corner of Carroll St. & Columbia St. in Brooklyn.
