Watch the judging and awards for Best Homemade Pie. Homemade Pie slices are available for $3 each.

Local Resident Raising Money For Earthquake Victims In Nepal

A few days ago, PMFA was contacted by Columbia Waterfront resident and local dog walker Cesar Vallejo. He reached out because he would like to get people involved in helping the earthquake victims in Nepal. To that end, he and his wife Sara have started an online fundraising campaign to raise $20,000 for the the people of Kathmandu in the central region of Nepal.
Cesar himself volunteered in Nepal in 2013 and fell in love with the country and its people.
He writes:

By now, most of the world has heard and seen the news about the earthquake in Nepal.
There are no words to describe how saddened we are by this terrible tragedy, that has brought so much suffering to many people throughout the world.

As some of you might know, I spent some time in Nepal in 2013 volunteering working with children and adult monks. I experienced first hand the beauty of Nepal; it's landscapes, beautiful temples (many of which have been lost due to the destruction of the earthquake and the after shocks), and the people that make this one of the most welcoming countries in the world. I left so many friends behind who are now in need of help.

We will be working with the monks at Shechen Tennyi Dargyeling Monastery in Baudanath - Kathmandu, Nepal, to help those that have been left homeless and/or injured by the earthquake. All donations to this fund will go directly to the Nepali people. I will personally wire transfer all donations to my dear friend, Monk Gyurmed Kunkhyab, who will be in charge of the distribution of all donations.

The money will be spent on food, shelter, medical supplies, and any other immediate relief materials.
