Carroll Gardens Postal Truck Not Likely To Return Anytime Soon

oo

In case you haven't noticed yet, the little U.S.P.S. truck that serviced the neighborhood a few days a week has been absent from Court Street for most of the summer. And it isn't coming back any time soon. As a matter of fact, the postal office is cutting back on all postal trucks.
The reason? Budget cuts and higher fuel prices. In addition, the postal worker who usually comes around in the truck has hurt her knee. The Red Hook station is short staffed and cannot send a replacement.
At the September Carroll Gardens Neighborhood Association meeting on Monday, Oscar Jonas
of Senator Connor's office expressed his own frustration with the situation. He stated that he had worked very hard to bring the truck service to the Eileen Dugan Senior Center on Court and was saddened to hear that the elderly had been deprived of the convenience. He promised to work together with Assemblyperson Joan Millman's office to find a solution.
