255 Smith Street
It sure didn't take long for Alan Harding's former "Patois" restaurant to be put on the commercial rental market. A sign by Carroll Gardens Realty went up at the location a few days after the self-proclaimed 'restaurant mogul' closed his Smith street restaurant. A quick check on the realty's web site does indeed show a listing which fits the description. So how about it? Want to try your hand at playing restaurateur?
If Alan Harding is intending to re-open Patois across the street, as he had mentioned, there are no signs of any work yet. See photo below.

I think that building where Refinery was will be coming down.
Remember that and lot on corner just sold as one parcel for development.
Hi Anon, yes, I remember that and was surprised when it was mentioned as the new home for Patois. I also thought that this site was ready to be torn down and built up. Maybe the developer changed his mind and is waiting for better times, renting to Harding in the meantime.
Harding seems to have a knack for finding cheap real estate for his restaurants.
Look at Harding's Pacifico. He managed to open up a restaurant on an empty lot. And at the Gowanus Yacht Club, he is using the bagel store's side yard as a place of business ( but maybe I shouldn't go there....)
Add that to the growing list of flunked/available retail spaces for rent on Smith Street. What are we at now, 9,10??
That sounds about right.
And probably more to come.
