A Moment Back In Time: Brooklyn Kitchen Modernization By S. Busch...Circa 1950's
Here is a bit of nostalgia for you.
I just recently found this advertising postcard of a 1950's kitchen and thought I would share it with you here. The reverse of the card reads: "Kitchen Modernization by S. Busch, Brooklyn."
I wonder how many of these Mr. Busch installed all around the borough and maybe even in some of Carroll Gardens' brownstones?
I love the stove and the refrigerator. The cabinets? Not so much.

You know that that cabinet style and hardware is favored in Nantucket even today!
We just bought a house on 2nd St between Hoyt and Bond that has a low-budget version of this. We're keepin' it for now and putting a coat of paint on it.
Hi Elisabeth,
That sounds like a great idea, It is always best to first live in a space before redesigning it.
Do you have the old appliances as well?
They're old, but unfortunately not that old - stove is from the early 70's and lights with a match. We'll see how long that lasts...hoping to repair it.
I had a stove like that in France. I got used to lighting it with a match.
If you do change the kitchen make sure to take a photo of how it looks now, so that you can remember.
And maybe you would consider sharing them with PMFA readers?
I am sure it would bring back fond memories for some.
