THE FIFTH ANNUAL RED HOOK JAZZ FESTIVAL
Sunday JUNE 10 AND Sunday 17, 2012
Gates open at 1 PM
$10 suggested donation/ free for kids
Celebrating its fifth anniversary presenting the most forward-thinking musicians and composers in modern jazz, big band productions presents the Red Hook Jazz Festival at its usual location, the Urban Meadow on two consecutive Sundays, June 10 and June 17 starting at 1 PM. The Urban Meadow is located at the corner of President & Van Brunt Streets in Brooklyn, NY. Both days are sponsored as in years past by both the Urban Meadow and local businesses, as well as a successfully funded Kickstarter fundraising campaign for the 2012 shows. There will be a suggested donation of $10 per adult per day for each day of the festival and kids are admitted free. Families are encouraged to bring a picnic and enjoy the music.Concert organizer Mike Golub, who lives in the Columbia Waterfront District near the Urban Meadow said “We are thrilled to be presenting these great shows for the fifth year in a row. The Red Hook Jazz Festival prides itself on being a homegrown jazz festival featuring an amazing line-up of mostly local talent. We present great music with a laid back vibe, an outdoor setting, and a strong family-friendly focus, while striving to develop the next generation of jazz audiences.”
Where other festivals rely on corporate sponsorships and donations, the RHJF is an all-volunteer event proud to support a wide variety of superb figures in NYC jazz, both young and old.
