from Awaye Realty
Just over a year ago, the Settecasi family took over the former George’s Potpourri storefront at 489 Court Street between Nelson and Huntington Streets in Carroll Gardens to open their The Park Bench Café and Crêperie.
The opening was followed a few months later by a ribbon cutting ceremony that included Carlo Scissura, president of the Brooklyn Chamber of Commerce and Craig Hammerman, manager of Community Board 6.
Just by chance, I came across a listing of the business on Awaye Realty's web site. The Settecasi's are hoping to sell the crêperie for $199, 000. From the listing:
Incredible Business Opportunity! High Volume, High Visibility Location! Turn-Key Café and Creperie in the Heart of Beautiful Carroll Gardens. Pristine.
Condition: Brand New Store Front that gives a Warm and Inviting Atmosphere for Customers. Gorgeous Newly Renovated Layout with Back Yard: (18.5 X 30)Beautiful Tin Ceiling Hardwood Laminate Flooring. All Equipment is included. Basement Storage. Back Yard with tables, chairs, umbrellas and park benches.
Remaining lease on the storefront is 14 years at "low monthly rent."
Did you ever try the crêperie? Was it any good? Will you miss it? What new business would do well at this location, do you think?

On a related note, Awaye Realty ask has a listing for Line Bagels store at the corner of Smith and 9th Street. The business, once named F Line Bagels before the M.T.A. objected, has been a fixture in the neighborhood for quite a few years. Now it is being sold for $349,000 with a remaining lease of 6 years at $5,570 a month.
Awaye Realty listing's description of the business:

Line Bagels survived the recent two year closure of the nearby F/G train station at 9th Street and Smith Street. But the station has re-opened in early 2013, which certainly increased foot traffic and business at that corner.

Too bad for the little creperie. It seemed a lonely place what with Le petite Cafe and all the hipster joints down there.
Just too niche with no foot traffic. I'm sorry for them.
As far as Line Bagels I don't get the train there so I have no opinion but too bad for them.
Maybe a Stumptown would be brave enough to open there. As far as the Creperie spot hopefully not a bank.
My wife and I ate at The Park Bench Café and Crêperie for dinner, once.
I loved the creperie and really will miss it!
My husband I enjoyed and will really miss the creperie. Such sad news... it was a good and unique business I'm the area for a change...
