"He is here!" is all my husband and I needed to hear from our son to pack our bags and head to Alaska.
After an impossibly long flight that involved a stop-over in Atlanta, we arrived this past Monday in a small town just 40 miles outside of Anchorage to be greeted by our son, his girlfriend and their brand new baby boy.
And instantly, I fell in love.
For the past two days, I have spent hours staring at the little munchkin, examining every tiny facial expression and soaking in his newborn baby scent.
And then, there is the stunning landscape all around. Spring has just begun here, the trees are getting their new leaves and the daffodils are popping out of the ground. The mountains are still covered in snow and it is all very magical.
My week here in Alaska is passing by too quickly. The little Peanut will soon move to Austin, where his parents normally live. Thankfully, that is closer to Brooklyn, but not close enough for my taste, of course.
Life is full of wonder and adventures. This one may be the most amazing and magical adventure yet!

Thanks, Anon. The little family got here in late March, so there was plenty of time. This little munchkin in part Native Alaskan and has family here.

Ahhhh, new baby smell, and soft baby skin - heaven. Congratulations to you all. Such a wonderful blessing. I'm so happy for you - may your remaining time in Alaska go very very slowly...and Austin is not too far from Bklyn. ; )

Thanks so much, Margaret.
This morning, we saw a moose and her two babes walk right behind the house. Spring, new babies and family in a majestic setting. It's rather amazing.
