Everyone here in the neighborhood knows the beautiful war memorial that stands in the center of Carroll Park, but few take the time to read the long list of names on the two bronze plaques attached to the side of the monument, commemorating those Carroll Gardeners who died in the service of this country.

Yet parents still let their little tykes draw on the monument. See pic #2. Disrespectful.
I went to thus ceremony almost every year. I moved to Riverdale as it was too expensive to stay in my beloved Brooklyn. I missed a tribute to those who served in the wars and couldn't find anything in my new neighborhood. Such a shame.
