The former Zaytoons at corner of Smith Street and Sackett Street
Nature's Grill Café on Court Street near Atlantic Avenue
Many people in Carroll Gardens were deeply saddened when Middle Eastern eatery Zaytoons closed its doors in November 2018 after over 20 years at 283 Smith Street. Many said they would miss the reasonably priced, heathy food options and the warm, casual atmosphere.Shortly after the closing, it was rumored that Nature's Grill Café, an eatery and juice bar offering all natural and organic soups, salads, paninis and burgers. Nature's Grill, which already operates a location a few blocks away at 138 Court Street near Trader Joe's, also has outposts in Bay Ridge and Staten Island.
Perhaps Nature's Grill can't quite replace Zaytoon's, but we can imagine that it will do quite well here, despite the proximity of a sister location nearby.
What do you think? Have you ever eaten at Nature's Grill Café on Court Street? Are you glad they are taking over the former Zaytoons, or still missing that lentil soup and the chicken kebab sandwich?
Here is a photo from 1928 of 283 Smith Street, when it appears to have been a fish store.

Ugh. The chain-ification of the neighborhood continues. Very sad.
A sign up at The Natures Grill on Court says it's relocating to Smith - so there won't be two locations in the end.
That makes sense. They must have just put the sign up.
At least it's not another real estate office!!!
Now the question is - what will happen to the (soon to be) old Nature's Grill space next to TJs!
Also, whats the deal with that place "North" on Court and Bergen? They seem to sell augmented reality glasses..
It’s beginning to look a lot like Park Slope around here. If they were smarter, Bedouin Tent should have moved into the space. They could have made a killing with 2 locations seeing how they have iffy delivery down here. Love Bedouin Tent.
NG has terrible food. Losing Zaytoons is one thing, but adding NG only adds insult to injury.
Missing Zaytoons and (but) grateful for anyone willing to invest in life on our beloved commercial strips. Keep 'em coming.
Caroll Gardens continues its slide into Brooklyn's most boring, bland neighborhood.
I'm sorry but Nature's Grill had the worst food I have ever tasted. I brought my family there once during a downpour (in part to get out of the rain, but we were also hungry) and the horrid food has been a family joke ever since. Everything we ordered had very little care put into its preparation and even less thought about the freshness of ingredients or the taste. This is a tragedy. Zaytoons will be missed.
