Here is perhaps a nice addition to Smith Street: Shawarma & Grill will be opening soon at 101 Smith Street at the corner of Atlantic Avenue.  The new eatery will offer Mediterranean food, including kabobs, falafel, humus, salads and juices.
It sounds like a great place for a quick bite or for take-out food.  What do you think?

Until recently,101 Smith Street was the home of Urban Folk Art Gallery, which closed last year. Read more

There was quite a bit of commotion outside of Red Rose Restaurant on Smith Street tonight as scenes of David Chase's new production were filming in the Italian eatery. The creator of HBO's The Sopranos has signed James Gandolfini, Bella Heathcote, Christopher McDonald and Brad Garrett to his first full feature film. Steven Van Zandt is an executive producer and music advisor for the film. According to Movie Web, it's "a music-driven coming of age story set in suburbia in the '60s"
That would explain the vintage cars parked in front of Red Rose.

When I walked by at about 9 pm, and it looked as though things were starting to wrap up. I didn't spot any celebrities. Did anyone else?

David Chase, the creator and producer of HBO's wildly popular The Sopranos has signed James Gandolfini, Bella Heathcote Christopher McDonald and Brad Garrett have all joined the cast of Chase's first feature film.

Then, on Thursday, everyone has to clear their car for a shoot on Friday. HBO's Treme, is coming back to film on Smith Street. The drama, set in post-Kathrina New Orleans, already filmed in Carroll Gardens in November 2010. Why would a show about New Orleans film in Carroll Gardens?
According to Variety, actor James Ransone joined Treme's cast in a recurring role through the second season as a New York City restaurant worker. Ransone's character may well be working in a Smith Street eatery...
