Five days in Oslo, Norway certainly is not enough to discover everything this lovely city has to offer, but my husband and I certainly made a valiant effort. In the first two days, we managed to visit the Viking Ship Museum, the Munch Museum, the Folk Museum, and the Nobel Museum.  We followed up by visiting the National Gallery, the Vigeland sculpture garden and the Fram Museum, which tells the story of Norway's polar explorations.
In between, we walked around the city for miles. Have I mentioned that my husband would cover every inch of a city if he could?  I try to keep up, I really do, but sometimes, I prefer to just sit in a street café and absorb the local atmosphere.

Next stop, Amsterdam and its lovely canals...and museums.

PMFA is on a summer adventure and I invite you to follow along.
As many of you know, I return to Europe every year to visit family and friends, and to take care of an old farmhouse in the Auvergne, France. This time, we begin our trip in Oslo, Norway. We had visited Bergen a few years ago, but had never been in Norway's capital. So here we are,  enjoying this interesting city under the bluest sky since we arrived on Sunday afternoon.
So far, we have visited the Munch Museum, the Nobel Peace Center, the Viking Ship Museum, the Astrid Fearnley Museum of Modern Art, and the Norwegian Folk Museum (my favorite by far because it features many old furnished cottages and farmhouses).
In between, we have taken long walks through the City, around the harbor, and along the Akerselva River.
Everyone here is enjoying the beginning of summer and the good weather, including us.

Impressions of Norway

Good morning, Brooklyn friends,
I meant to give a sign of life much sooner, but between traveling, sightseeing and meeting new friends, the time slipped by.  As I had mentioned in my last post,  I flew to Norway to spend a few days with my friends Joe and Eunice on a beautiful island in the Hardanger fjord. It was my first time in Norway.
What a magnificent landscape.  What a photogenic place. The red boathouses and barns, the white sailboats on the dark, clear water, the glaciers and waterfalls, all are amazingly beautiful and charming.
I was lucky enough that the sun shone during most of my stay.
Thank you, Joe and Eunice for introducing me to your friends and family and for sharing your island.

I am now in the Auvergne, in central France.  Apparently, it has been raining for the past 10 days and it is still raining now, so that I have not ventured far.  More photos and news as soon as the sun returns.
