Dandelion Boutique Replaces Jewelery Store On Court Street

Once the home of Casale/ Carroll Gardens Jewelers, the small storefront at 306 Court Street, has become home to the 'Dandelion Boutique', a small women's wear and accessory store at 306 Court Street. The boutique just opened its doors two weeks ago.
I popped in on Wednesday and was pleasantly surprised by the small but interesting selection of clothing items. The store also carries handbags and jewelry.

It almost seems bold to open a small boutique, especially since so many similar stores have closed on Court Street recently. Lets see if Dandelion can succeed in this tougher economic climate. I wish them luck. Read more

'Glow' Accessories Store Now Open On Court Street

GLOW has opened its doors at 306 Court Street  over the week-end.  The small, bright accessories store offers custom jewelry in every color imaginable, fun hats, scarves and handbags. They also carry every hair clip imaginable, including adorable ones for little girls.

This Glow joins two sister stores recently opened in Park Slope on 7th Avenue and one on Fifth Avenue. 

Until recently, this space was occupied by Dandelion, a woman's boutique.  Before that, it was home to Casale's/Carroll Gardens Jeweler.

Sweet Intentions On Court Street Serves Coffee, Ice Cream, Macarons And More

You may have noticed that a small café opened at 306 Court Street here in Carroll Gardens just a few days ago. Sweet Intententions serves hot and cold beverages, Blue Marble ice cream, baked goods by Colson Patisserie, as well as chocolates from Jacques Torres.
Though more of a take-out place, there is a table near the window and a counter with stools, so customers can sit down and warm up with a hot chocolate on a cold winter day.

Here is a little history on 306 Court Street.
This retail space has hosted quite a number of different businesses in recent years. For 28 years, it was home to Casale's Carroll Gardens Jeweler. When it closed in 2009, Dandelion, a woman's boutique, moved in. That was followed by Glow, an accessories store. For the past year, it was home to "Mama Says Comics Rock", a comic book store.

Paté, Fromage And Saucisson: 'Le French Tart Deli' To Open On Court Street

Over the years, the small retail space at 306 Court Street hosted quite a few different businesses. Years back, it was the home of Casale Jewelry Store.  Then it became the Dandelion Clothing Boutique, before turning into a Glow accessories store. More recently, it was Mama Says Comics Rock. That in turn was taken over by Sweet Intentions, a coffee, ice cream and macaron shop in January 2019.

Exactly a year later, it now appears that Le French Tart Deli will open its doors at this location.  The deli will sell (or serve) french cheese, charcuterie and baked goods.
There is a 'Le French Tart' on 5th Avenue in Park Slope. Given the similarity in names, the Court Street business is probably related.

This is too small of a space for a sit down restaurant, but we could imagine this deli doing well if it serves great sandwiches and offers interesting cheeses like Stinky's on Smith Street.

We sure hope after all this turnover, a business finally sticks around a bit at this location.

Dandelion Boutique On Court Street Calls It Quits

Dandelion Boutique at 306 Court Street at the corner of DeGraw sure did not last very long in the neighborhood. The small store sold women's clothes and accessories. It opened up in November 2009, replacing Casale, a jewelry store, which had operated at that location for almost 30 years.
The commercial space is now for rent.

Glow Accessories Closing Its Store On Court Street

Glow Accessories  at 306 Court Street  is calling it quits.  A sign in the window indicates that everything in the store is now selling at 50% off.  If you are in the market for custom jewelry, hats, scarves and hair clips, stop by soon.
Glow opened in Carroll Gardens back in February 2012.  It joined two sister stores in Park Slope, one on 5th Avenue and one on 7th Avenue.  (Apparently, the 7th Avenue store is closing as well.)

After 28 Years, Carroll Gardens Jewelry Store Will Close Its Doors

The jewelry store at 306 Court Street at the corner of DeGraw Street, was called Casale Jewelers, when I moved into the neighborhood long ago.

This is where my daughter had her ears pierced after mounting a month long campaign to convince me that she was old enough to wear earrings and that EVERY girl at school had them. She was eight, I think.

I distinctly remember feeling her nails dig into my arm as I held her hand during the procedure. She was so happy with the gold earrings she had chosen. She wore them proudly on her little red earlobes, looking at the mirror as we walked out of Casale.

About two years ago, the owner retired. I was told that his two employees had taken over the business. They renamed it "Carroll Gardens Jewelers."

So it was with regret that I saw that the store was closing for good on June 2oth, after 28 years in business at that same location.

How sad. I hate to see these neighborhood stores close. This little business will be missed.
